Scheuring, Paul, dir. The Experiment

This film is a remake of the German film Das Experiment (2001), which is based on Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment, conducted in 1971. In this psychological thriller, we follow the participants of the experiment as they become prisoners and guards. As in the real Stanford Experiment, the guards soon start to show sadistic behaviour, and the prisoners go along with this for a long time. However, the film is also a dramatization of the real experiment, and we see events that never happened in 1971. The film received generally unfavorable reviews, and compared negatively to the 2001 original.
