Ugly History: Cambodian Genocide – Timothy Williams

In this newly published TED-Ed video collaboration, Timothy Williams relays the violent history of the Khmer Rouge regime that ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979, perpetrating genocide that killed a quarter of the country’s population. Tracing the brutal legacy of the Communist Party of Kampuchea’s rise to power, inhumane politics, and violent overturn, as well as the transitional justice mechanisms established in its aftermath, the video details the complex reality that underlines the traumatic memory of the genocidal regime in Cambodia.
